3. The Higher Throw
To keep your throw straight, Pokémon GO players usually throw their Poké Balls from the position in which they are set. Unknowingly, or knowingly but not bothered to move, Poké Balls can be thrown at different heights, depending on how you like to play the game.
Throwing from the bottom of the screen looks like this:
Each time you try to capture a Pokémon, you’ll see a small colored inner circle beside the normal white circle that signifies the minimum distance you must throw to hit the Pokémon generally. If you manage to hit this inner circle with a Nice, Great, or Excellent throw, it greatly increases your chances of catching the Pokémon.
This is even more important when trying to capture rare Pokémon, who don’t always pop into the Poké Ball after a successful hit in the vanilla circle so to speak.
On the higher throw technique itself, the process is pretty easy. When throwing the Poké Ball bring it higher on the screen, almost like you’re throwing down at the Pokémon. This gives you a better trajectory and less power, meaning you can really focus on getting the Poké Ball into that inner circle.
